Mecklenburg County seniors aged 60 and older can now receive $50 vouchers to purchase fresh produce from local farmers markets. This initiative, known as the Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program, is a collaboration between the state of North Carolina and Mecklenburg County, aimed at promoting healthier eating habits among older residents.

The vouchers will be available at the North Meck Community Farmers Market in Cornelius and the Uptown Farmers Market in Charlotte. The Cornelius market operates on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until September 24, while the Uptown market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. until December 14. Seniors can use these vouchers at any certified farmers market across North Carolina. For more details on eligibility and how to sign up, visit the program’s website.
