Muddy River Distillery is set to open its new location in a historic cotton mill near downtown Mount Holly on June 22. Owners Robbie and Caroline Delaney, who purchased the 5-acre property in 2022, have repurposed the mill into a distillery, cocktail bar, and event space. Originally built in 1875, the mill is the oldest standing in Gaston County.

Founded in 2011, Muddy River Distillery was North Carolina’s first legal rum producer. The new location marks a significant expansion from its original Belmont site, with products now available across North Carolina, South Carolina, and even Canada. The grand opening promises to breathe new life into the historic mill and boost downtown Mount Holly’s business scene.
