Community Efforts Rebuild Washed-Out Bridge in Iron Station

Residents of Iron Station are celebrating a significant milestone as volunteers work to rebuild a critical bridge on Amity Lane. This road, essential for the neighborhood’s connectivity, was washed out multiple times due to heavy rains, most recently in January, leaving nearly 50 families stranded.

The privately-owned road left the residents responsible for funding the repairs. Thanks to a $75,000 donation from the Lutheran Disaster Relief fund and the dedicated efforts of the Mennonite Disaster Service, a new concrete-supported bridge is under construction. The project promises a permanent solution, capable of supporting 50-ton fire trucks, ensuring both accessibility and safety for the community. Volunteers are working tirelessly, aiming to complete the robust structure within the next week, alleviating long-standing fears of future washouts.
