The Catawba County Public Health’s Farmers Market is set to kick off its 12th season this Thursday, June 6, offering a variety of fresh, locally grown produce. Held at the Public Health front parking lot on 3070 11th Ave. Drive SE in Hickory, the market will run weekly on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through September. The market aims to provide a convenient source of nutritious, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, squash, zucchini, beans, peaches, and berries.

In addition to fresh produce, the market accepts various forms of payment, including cash, debit cards, SNAP/EBT, WIC, and senior farmers market benefits. This initiative is part of Catawba County’s ongoing efforts to improve access to nutritious foods, a priority highlighted in the 2023 Community Health Assessment. With support from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, the market offers matching funds for SNAP/EBT or WIC purchases, ensuring more families can benefit from the local bounty.
