Green New Energy Materials, a China-based battery parts manufacturer, announced plans to build a $140 million manufacturing plant in Lincoln County, North Carolina. This new facility, the company’s first in the U.S., will produce battery separator components crucial for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, energy storage, and industrial applications. The plant is set to create 545 jobs, with an average salary of $57,934, higher than Lincoln County’s average wage of $51,886.

Governor Roy Cooper highlighted the economic benefits of this investment, which includes $3.6 million in state tax incentives over 12 years and a $1.2 million infrastructure grant for rural development. The project is part of North Carolina’s broader strategy to lead in the clean energy sector, attracting major investments from companies like Toyota and VinFast. Green New Energy Materials’ facility is expected to bolster the state’s economy by $1.15 billion over the next decade, reinforcing its position as a hub for electronic battery and vehicle manufacturing.
